LocalPetFinder (www.localpetfinder.us) is a free dog and cat adoption discovery platform serving cities in the United States. We aggregate publicly available dog listings from local rescue organizations to help prospective adopters find their match.

• Email address — If you subscribe to new dog alerts, we collect your email address and your filter preferences (e.g., size, energy level, compatibility). This is stored in our database and used solely to send you matching dog notifications.

b) Information Stored Locally

• Saved favorites — When you save a dog to your favorites, that data is stored in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

c) Information Collected Automatically

• Server logs — Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and operational purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Email alerts: To send you notifications about newly available dogs matching your preferences.
• Service operation: To maintain, protect, and improve the platform.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Alert subscription data (email and preferences) is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security enabled.
• We use reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
• Favorites data is stored only in your browser and is not transmitted to any server.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel — Website hosting. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics — Visit statistics (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase — Database hosting for alert subscriptions. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — Email delivery for alert notifications. Subject to Resend's Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies

We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may set essential cookies required for the website to function. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on.

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from email alerts at any time using the link in any alert email.
• Request deletion of your email and alert preferences by contacting us.
• Clear favorites by clearing your browser's localStorage.

Depending on the state you live in, US state privacy laws (for example California's CCPA) may give you rights to know, correct and delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us to exercise these rights. We do not sell or share personal information.

8. Children's Privacy

LocalPetFinder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
