About the Dalmatian
The Dalmatian is a large dog breed originating in Croatia (Dalmatia). Adult dogs typically weigh 45 to 70 pounds and live 11 to 14 years. Typical traits: energetic, athletic, family-bonded, intelligent.
Very active households (running, cycling) able to provide 90-plus minutes of daily exercise. A high-stamina coaching breed. Sedentary or apartment homes; an under-exercised Dalmatian becomes destructive and high-strung.
Adult Dalmatians need about 90 minutes of daily exercise; adolescent dogs typically need 120 minutes. The coat is short-coated with high shedding, and brushing every 4 weeks keeps the coat manageable.
